Is it Enough

If I embrace you long enough and tight enough,
will I always remember what it feels like to hold you in
my arms?
If I rock you long enough and breathe deep enough,
will I never forget what it is like to feel your weight
against my chest as you sleep?
If I cradle your head in my hand long enough,
will I always remember what it is like to feel your soft
black hair on my skin?
If I listen carefully enough,
will I always remember what your little babbles sounded
like before you could even talk?

Being your Mom has given me more joy than I have ever
known, and that IS enough!

I love you with all my heart and I pray that is enough.

She is

She sees the good in my heart when it is blanketed by darkness and loves me even when I am not that loveable.
She has my voice, mannerisms and most of all my back.
She shows selflessness when I am being selfish.
She is beauty.
She is grace.
She has faith.
She lives love.
She is the first person I wanted to embrace when I came home with my son.
She is...my sister.

In the Loft

Our home has a loft area just above the family room.  We use it as a work space.  As we worked through mounds of paperwork for the adoption of our son, I guess it became a sort of "Labor & Delivery room".

In the loft, I read one more adoption book on which I must report.
Before going to bed, I check my email one more time.
In the loft, I submit an online application to Journeys of the Heart.
This is it, I can feel it.  Won't be long now.

Friday night 7pm, I am sitting in the loft.  Typing an email with
my hair bound up...so unsuspecting.  We get the call, my heart
is racing and tears are flowing down.  The first time I see his face...
I'm in the loft.

For 5 months, every day...I raced to the loft.  Hoping for an update
to see his face.  And now and then, there he was...still on the computer
screen...my little boy on the other side of the world.

In the loft, I would sing him lullabies as I watched him change on a
screen.  Oh what I would give for one touch, one real glimpse.  Is
it just a dream?

In the loft, I became a mother but it still felt like a dream.

The judge made a final ruling, so it said on the screen.  Then the much
awaited email, the invitation to meet our son.  Right there in the loft,
I feel to my knees..."My God, thank you"...I cried and screamed.

Sitting in the loft, flights were arranged and plans were made.

In the loft, my life was changed.

The loft still holds those memories and images on a screen, but now I hold my
baby boy in a rocker just beneath the loft...Thank you, God---I'm free!

Waiting on ONE

A year ago today, I was waiting on ONE.
One phone call about one child.  I couldn't
hardly wait.
We got that call in September 2008.
He was the ONE.
Again I found myself waiting on one.
One precious child, one phone call..."it's
time, please come to Taiwan".
On a flight to Taipei I sat and thought...
One more flight, one more night one more--

It is time for balloons, cake and pointed
hats!  I can't believe it's almost here.
I find myself, again... waiting on ONE!

Happy Birthday GiGi

Today we celebrated GiGi's birthday at Outback.  Happy Birthday, GiGi!!!
Cheng-Yu clapped for the first time today.  We ran into a friend with a little puppy and it excited him so much that he just started clapping.  Just a little thing, but what a big smile it brings!
