A Girl Named Jenny

When was in third grade, I met a girl named Jenny.
She was cute, smart and best of all FUNNY.
I think we probably drove our teacher crazy.
I believe all my reports cards said..Robin loves
to talk! I bet it was to a girl named Jenny.
We were a little sneaky, quite the pair.
One day in the cafeteria we wanted extra rolls.
BUT in order to get seconds, you had to clean your
plate. That wasn't going to happen since peas
were involved. So, we a brilliant idea to solve our
problem. We decided to just put our peas in the floor
under the table and kinda smoosh them with our
feet to make them less obvious. Our plates were
clean! The next year in fouth grade, I wondered
why they didn't put me in the same class with
that girl named Jenny.

It is time for 5th grade and guess what?!? More
report card comments...Robin loves to talk.
I sat by a girl named Jenny. That year was
interesting too. One day, my pants split in the rear
when I bent over. No problem, Jenny helped me staple
them back together with the teacher's stapler. What
would I do without that girl named Jenny?

It is time for middle school and on the first day, the only
friend I know is girl named Jenny. I had so much fun
in middle school, but one thing I remember most.....
the sports' picnic at Camp Dixie in the Spring.
Only people who played a sport could go . As spring
approached, Jenny and I devised a plan (since neither
of us had played a sport that year). We decided to
run cross-country...how hard could that be, right?
Well, very--when you haven't really ever been a runner
before. On the first day of practice, I thought we would
surely die. We never won any races, but we
sure did enjoy the sports' picnic at Camp Dixie!

We grew up, but never went our separate ways.
When I got a teaching job, got engaged, adopted my son...
I called Jenny.

Many years have passed since I met my friend named Jenny.
In fact, we just had our 20 year high school reunion.
Some things never change---At our reunion, I danced and
laughed the night away...with a girl named Jenny.

I love you, Jenny! Thanks for a lifetime of wonderful memories!

Cheng-Yu at Mommy's High School Reunion

This photograph was taken at my 20 year high school reunion picnic. It looks like Ben is pondering this occasion and "doing the math"....ummm if this is mommy's 20 year reunion, when I'm in high school she'll be how old?!?! Oh my!
