I Love...

I love...
  • The way you say "Hey Momma, you a-member last mornin' when I was just a              wittle  baby?"
  • Your smile and laughter, both contagious.
  • the way you say "I cromise" instead of "I promise".
  • when you say that things get on your "ner-nous".
I love you, Ben Cheng-Yu!

Fortune Cookie

After eating at Formosa tonight, we opened our fortune cookies in the car.  Cheng-Yu opened his, pulled out the tiny piece of paper and said, "Mine says, Dear Jesus...thank you uh Jackson and Ben."

From One Mother to Another...Happy Mother's Day

Another Mother

God chose her knowing she would choose me.
I trusted Him so she trusted me.
Through one mother to another mother,
God gave you to me.
And for always, I pray for another mother
who knew you before me.

No Thanks, Mommy!

It is amazing to see how much your children change each day in the early years.  Today, I asked Cheng-Yu if he was ready for his nap and his response was, "No thanks, Mommy".  He said it in the sweetest, honest way.  His expressive language is really coming along.  A few days ago, he clearly said "YES" instead of "SES" for the first time.  Within the last week he has expanded some  phrases to complete sentences.  Like saying, "Get up, Momma!" instead of "Up, Momma."  And about a week ago, he started calling me Mom with a big emphasis on the last "m".  These are just an example of some little things I want to remember.

Mo Pray-us Peas, Momma

Shortly after I finished saying a night time prayer with Cheng-Yu tonight, he says..."Mo Pray-us peas, Momma".  I began to pray again, thanking God for our many blessings...naming them one by one.  AMEN.  Then once again, I hear him say, "Mo pray-us peas, Momma".  This time, I really poured my heart out praying for his birth country, birthparents and asking for God's guidance in very specific situations in our lives....once again, naming them one by one.  AMEN.  And yes, once again I hear the sweetest little voice.  "Pray-us again, Momma!"  At this point, about 45 minutes had passed and I needed a bathroom break.  After my short break, I returned to pray another really long prayer.  At one point I felt myself drifting off to sleep and realizing I was thanking Jesus for my backpack.  Each time I would stop praying...or fall asleep, I would hear that sweet voice...."Mo pray-us peas, Momma", until he finally drifted off to sleep himself.
Some might think I was being manipulated by a 2 year old!  But for me, I believe that sweet voice had another whisperer.  I can't remember the last time I prayed for over an hour.  It was about time:)

Magic of Santa....Miracle of Jesus

Christmas Eve...Christmas Day
I am like a little kid again.  It is 3am & I find myself too anxious to sleep. I can hardly wait to see the look on your face when you discover that Santa HAS visited our house & he did bring you all the trains you have been waiting for...and more.  I love the way you want to fall asleep with your little wooden trains in your hands.  Just as you fell asleep tonight, I heard a tiny clink made by the trains as they slipped out of your grip.  I knew then, it was about time for Santa to arrive.  I hope you always experience the magic and joy of Santa each year at this time.  But my biggest wish is that you will experience the miracle and joy of Jesus in your heart EVERY day of the year.

Fall Break

We spent the week in Sandestin and truly had a wonderful time.  The resort was fabulous and the so was the weather...ALL week long.

Superman!!!!

AND..."the halloween costume".  He screams when we put it on him.  Of course, I thought it would be so cute to get a picture of him as a shark on the beach.  He didn't appreciate my idea, nor did he cooperate.

An Amazing Miracle
My sweet friend:)

Momma, Bed

It was as simple as this...."Momma, bed."  He looked me in the eyes as he said it and then without hesitation, picked up his blanket from the sofa and turned out the playroom light.  Just another simple "first"....

BEN & JAX

Today, we went to the zoo with Alisha & Jackson.  Alisha & I always find great joy in just watching our happy, giggling boys play together.  We have always teasingly said that our boys were going to be friends even if it was a "forced friendship".  We haven't had to twist any arms...these two LOVE each other!

Say, Cheese!

So, about 2 weeks ago he started saying "Cheese" on command.  It makes picture time easier.  I am not sure what clicked on that lightbulb, but it magically happened like all the other small but miraculous things that little ones do.
Like when they can point to something in a catalog and say, "Buy it, Momma."  And it works like magic!  Even more powerful when they say, "Hold me, Momma."  The real miracle is what happens in your heart when a little hand pats you and covers you up with a blanket while curled up next to you.

Cheng-Yu,  I love watching you grow and learn each day.  But more than that I love learning from you.  You are a daily reminder of how incredible God is and you show me how to marvel at his creation.  You soak it all in!
You are carefree and make me slow down and enjoy the little things.
When you run to me all sticky and covered in dirt, I pull you in my arms and hug you tight.  God whispers...."This is what I do for you."
You take risks!  Sometimes I step in and sometimes I just watch.  Sometimes I intervene and sometimes I let you fall.  God whispers again..."I do this for you."
I see your face and think about how God brought us together.  Last Sunday, our pastor talked about how many of the things we do and concern ourselves with have little to do with our uniquely designed purpose.  He reminded us that should focus and put our energy into what ONLY we could do.   He gave an example of how a mother is uniquely designed for her child...her personality, life experience, education, etc. are used to meet her child's needs.  As he talked about it, tears rolled down my face as I thought about the journey that lead me to you.  I can clearly see God's hand along the way.  While at the time I didn't see, but felt His presence.
God has a plan that is uniquely yours.  Be assured....He Loves You!

A new smile

Exhausted from running a 5k & all he had to say was, "Back, Momma...mark, set....GO!" and I found myself running ALL over the yard with him on my back.  OH!...the things ya do for LOVE!!!

It has been 2 years since I first saw his face and it sure has changed the smile on MINE!
